Ohio Schools Collaborate to Launch Med School Pilot

on February 10, 2009

Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College are developing a pilot program to prepare more students for medical professions, reports the Business First of Columbus. Among other things, the program would give Columbus State's participating students access to OSU's facilities and would also involve advising and financial aid to put them on track for medical school.

According to the article, the pilot targets community college students from rural areas and interested ethnic minority students, but while "the program in part addresses a drive to include more underrepresented demographic groups in the medical profession, it also takes on a well-publicized need for more doctors in the coming decade."
