On Tuesday, Sept. 8 at noon, President Obama will speak to the nation's students about the importance of education and challenging them to take personal responsibility for their own success.
While the president delivers his message, members of his cabinet and senior administration officials will be spread out in schools across the country to watch the speech live and discuss educational success directly with students in "My Education, My Future" events.
Officials include U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, who will visit Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Va.; and Larry Echohawk, assistant secretary for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, who will make an appearance at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, N.D.
The president's message will be streamed live on WhiteHouse.gov/live and broadcast live on C-Span. In advance, the Department of Education is making available resources to help teachers engage students in the discussion on education.
