Financial strategizing doesn't just take place on a spreadsheet or in a meeting; it also takes place on the basketball court.

A new sport called budgetball gives players a workout while teaching them about debt, savings, interest and taxes, reports credit.com. Two teams of six to 10 players face off in an area that's about the size of a basketball court and score points by throwing a volleyball down the field to a player in the end zone.

Similar to ultimate frisbee, budgetball players have to stop moving once they catch the ball and then throw it to another player. Along the way, they have to manage "budgetbucks," which they can borrow, earn or spend by taking on handicaps such as wearing oven mitts or gaining advantages such as an extra offensive player. Winners are based on the points they score as well as how much debt and savings that they have.

The National Academy of Public Administration and PETLab created the game, and the first campus-wide budgetball tournament was held at the University of Miami this month.
