Summary:

The mission of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation is to help reduce health disparities by strengthening community-based health care worker capacity, integrating medical care and community-based supportive services, and mobilizing communities in the fight against disease. The Foundation engages partners to develop, execute, evaluate and promote innovative programs to improve the health outcomes of populations disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa; hepatitis in Asia; serious mental illness in the United States; and cancer in Europe. In addition, the Foundation also supports other charitable initiatives that meet its criteria. From helping to build a new children's hospital in New Jersey to enhancing mental health services for people living in remote, rural counties of Alabama, Bristol-Myers Squibb helps give hope where and when it's needed most. Through its Community Grant program, the Foundation has identified the following priorities: (1) Addressing Unmet Medical Needs: Bristol-Myers Squibb strives to help our neighbors by working with nonprofit partners to improve access to treatment, eliminate health disparities and promote healthy lifestyles; (2) Improving Science Education: The Foundation partners with teacher training centers in colleges in order to work with students preparing for a career in education as well as present educators to think of new ways to inspire learners in the area of science. The Foundation also assists in designing programs of study to engage students of all ages; and (3) Helping People in Need: Support for programs that address poverty, hunger, homelessness, the elderly, and the disabled. The purpose and objectives of this program are very specific in nature. The distinct subject matter of this funding opportunity necessitates a thorough review of the official program guidance referenced at the URL provided in the contact section of this summary.
