Minigrant applications are due on September 15 annually. Applications postmarked after September 15 cannot be considered unless the applicant has indicated in writing that the proposal should be held over for the next year. The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation is known for its pioneering support of bookmaking programs, portrait projects, book festivals, libraries, mural projects throughout all of the United States, as well as emerging authors and illustrators of children's books. The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation will accept applications from public schools and libraries anywhere in the United States and its protectorates for program or event mini-grants. Funds will not be granted for: general operating costs, administrative costs, transportation of the audience, purchase of books, tapes, software or equipment unrelated to a specific program.
History of Funds:
Programs funded in the past have included: Ongoing pen-pal projects bringing disparate communities together; Multi-cultural portrait projects; Art projects culminating in art shows, murals, or quilts; Bookmaking; Creation and performance of puppet shows, and Inter-generational journals.
