The mission of the Essex County Community Foundation is to promote local philanthropy and strengthen the nonprofit organizations of Essex County. It fulfills this mission by partnering with donors helping them meet their philanthropic goals; supporting nonprofit organizations across the county with grants and services; and building collaboration between individuals and organizations to address current issues.
Support is provided to a variety of organizations and program areas, including museums, schools, social services, cultural institutions and environmental conservations. The foundation seeks to connect these organizations with donors.
The foundation offers eight competitive grant programs through the following funds: Discretionary Fund, Emergency Fund, First Jobs Fund, Greater Lawrence Summer Fund, Hardscrabble Education Fund, Merrimack Valley General Fund, Webster Family Fund and the Women's Fund.
