March 15 (annually) is the deadline for Organizational Support e-grant applications. The required support material including Revenue Statements must be postmarked on or before March 15. Late applications and/or late support material will not be reviewed - no exceptions.
These three programming components relate directly to the Oklahoma Arts Council's strategic plan and are necessary for reporting to the Legislature and to the National Endowment for the Arts on the state of the arts in Oklahoma. Qualifying organizations are Oklahoma non-religious, non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations, local and tribal governments, public libraries, public school districts, colleges and universities. Eligible projects will fall under one of the following programming components. (1) Community Arts Programs supports community based arts activities and events such as performance, exhibitions, festivals, etc. which advance, promote or support the cultural and economic development of Oklahoma. (2) Arts Education in Schools support programming taught by qualified arts instructors that develops students' skills and knowledge in dance, drama, music, visual arts, traditional arts or creative writing. Programming is designed specifically to complement existing K-12 school curriculum and instruction and involves activities or resources above and beyond those typically made available by the school. (3) Arts Learning in Communities support arts instruction, classes and workshops for participants of all ages, abilities and life circumstances where a predominant amount of the participant's time is devoted to the creative arts process. This component DOES NOT include arts education in the schools. Areas of programming include summer arts programs, after-school arts programs, arts instruction provided in a community based class/workshop format, and /or arts instruction provided in a healthcare/hospital/nursing home or other similar settings for institution or facility bound participants.
The Oklahoma Arts Council awards grants for Organizational Support in order to assist established nonprofit arts organizations to maintain and strengthen financial stability, organizational capacity, and art programs provided to the public including outreach to underserved populations.
