The economy may be forcing some of the nation's schools to cut staff and programs, but in Tennessee, parents have been working together to donate equipment to some schools, making sure kids stay competitive, the Tennessean reports.
Parents have helped get a variety of tech tools such as laptops and also money for studios and labs. These donations, officials say, have been extremely helpful, especially at certain International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme schools, where the use of technology is a requirement. At J.T. Moore Middle School, for instance, parents raised funds to help get new computers as well as a recording studio.
