The 2012 Q1 Special Report delves into 9 key areas of infrastructure and shows you why they are critical to your campus’ successful future.
Building on the Bring Your Own Device Revolution
The Internet has become arguably the most useful tool in the modern world. A vast amount of opportunities are available through it if the time is taken to search for them. One great use of the Internet is online schooling.
Online schooling is like a job with nearly completely flexible hours. It offers teaching at the desired hours and allows students to intertwine their lessons around their work and/or personal life. However, there are tests and exams that need to be taken on specified dates within a limited time period. These modifiable schedules can be very appealing to those tangled by their busy lives.
Unfortunately, traditional education restricts students who are in unfortunate circumstances. For example, many pregnant teens or new mothers are confined to the house, if not expelled for getting pregnant in the first place. Online schools offer a place for those kids to further their education and not have their future become restricted.
While personal life limits some, financial life limits others. Students who are in need of jobs go without rest when they attend regular schools with seven-hour days. Low sleep and little time for homework cause not only emotional stress, but also physical strain. An education through the Internet allows time for work, school, and social life too.
Even though online schooling is a great way to learn, it is not the best choice for many of those enrolled in it. Quite a number of “slackers” turn to online schools so they can have more time to lie around their house. The unmotivated youth are abusing their many online privileges.
There are also those with poor social lives who need an escape from others. A vast amount of different characters are leaning towards their computers for teaching, but it is questionable which ones should be. Hiding from the world and sitting indoors forever is not a fulfilling life. The advantages of alternative schooling are not really advantages at all if they are not met with efficient use. Those who are without friends and interactions cannot make the connections they need to succeed in life.
The students of today need a better understanding of how to excel in life. Speeding through education creates missing areas and broken opportunities that pass by without reappearing. The means to help those who have fallen behind is being wrongly used by those who choose to walk backwards.
Online schools should be thanked for the wonderful opportunities they are giving to their many unfortunate students. Internet education is one of many helping hands that leads to the reality of dreams. The decision to go to online or offline school should be made based on which one puts you on the frontline of opportunity. Know yourself before you choose your path to education.
